Self-Care Tips For Election Day

Posted by on

As we get closer to Election Day, the world is getting all the more stir-crazy about who our next officials will be. If you, too, have been feeling the effects of this election season, know that we are here to support you. Whether it’s anxiety, frustration, fear, or confusion, we encourage you to be honest with yourself about how you feel and invest in good habits that can help you work through your emotions.

Here are some self-care tips we believe will help you stay centered — no matter the outcome on November 3rd

Affirm Your Future

Anxiety runs high when faced with uncertainty, but we want to remind you that Election Day is just one day. No matter what happens — or who gets elected — there are still lots of amazing things and life experiences yet ahead of you. This election does not change your ability to flourish, grow, and find peace throughout the next four years.

Trust Your Gut

Anyone can advise you on what candidates and amendments to support, but no one knows what’s best for you like you. Rely on your own voice. Listen to your needs and desires for your life and community, and vote with confidence. And if you’ve voted already, don’t let anyone make you second-guess your decisions. Trust your ability to choose what’s right for you.

Take A Break From Politics

Stay informed, but don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. As you are researching candidates and watching debates (and possibly having your own), make sure to give your mind a chance to process so you don’t experience information overload.

Get More Sleep

Getting through the election whirlwind requires energy! Rest, relax, and recharge as often as possible to reinvigorate your spirit and regulate your mood.

Get Involved!

It always feels good to make a difference. It’s not too late to volunteer at the polls, offer a friend or family member a ride to the polls, or even donate to an organization you support.
