Much like you, the Rooted Woman team and I have experienced a lot of life, specifically over the past two years. Externally we’ve grieved racial turmoil, a global pandemic, a financial recession, supply chain issues, and inflation. But, more intimately, we’ve encouraged each other’s hearts through births, deaths, moves, and more emotional and physical highs and lows than I could capture here in words.
]]>Let me start with how in awe I am of what we’ve built together! I could not have guessed that my personal journey of self-love and holistic womanhood would generate a community of 15K+ women dedicated to radical self-care. I am inexpressibly grateful for every contributor to this legacy.
We simply are not the same women that started and have steered this brand and movement — which is a beautifully complex realization.
We sought to be a sanctuary and a safe haven for you in some of the scarier, more hopeless times of this generation. Yet, I decided to slow the business down last year as an intentional act of self-care to give our team space for internal reconnection and restoration.
Recently, I’ve felt the draw to take a different approach and connect with Rooted Woman in a way that honors the complexity of external challenges and internal evolution. To do that, I’ve decided to intentionally pause Rooted Woman, effective July 29, 2022.
What does this mean for our community?
You won’t hear from us very much. We’re taking a respite from social media, and we may deactivate our profile at some point. We’ll only drop in your inbox if we have something significant to share.
What does this mean for our products?
You can still stock up on our non-toxic, eco-friendly nail polishes and treatments until our online store closes on July 29, 2022. And as a thank you for your loyalty and support, the entire polish collection will be 50% off and all treatments and bundles will be 25% while supplies last — no promo code needed!
What does that mean for self-care?
Although you may feel the absence of our presence, our charge is still the same. We encourage you to prioritize your well-being, maintain healthy boundaries, and honor your womanhood journey. We will continue our advocacy and self-care practices behind the scenes, while cheering you on from a distance.
So farewell for now — but please don’t forget about us!
Rooted Woman may return in the future on a seasonal or limited-edition basis. If you’re interested in being contacted when the store reopens please sign up, and we’ll reach out when the time is right. Lastly, I would love to know how Rooted Woman has impacted your life up to this point! Send us a DM via Instagram while we’re still active, or drop us a note at info@rootedwoman.com!
I am immensely grateful for your support and dedication to Rooted Woman. I am beyond honored that you allowed Rooted Woman to have a place in your life, your home, and your sacred self-care practice. Our mantra and truth remains that self-care is not a selfish reward, but a necessary practice that should be accessible in the lives of all women. Let’s Stay Rooted together!
]]>Last year, we shared some tips for what it looks like to put self-trust into action. The blog opened with, “Self-trust runs deep,” and we genuinely believe trusting yourself affects the deepest parts of your energy, how you think, and most importantly, your self-care.
As the second half of 2022 sweeps in, you may feel tempted to look around and see what everyone else is doing to compare your progress. Instead, we hope you use the next six months to get closer to a more authentic version of you through self-trust and self-care. Try to trust yourself more in three significant ways:
Trust yourself to deal with the past.
Previous trauma or disappointment has a way of conditioning you to shrink or be silent without realizing it. There is healing in sharing your truth and protecting your peace. Whether it’s counseling, journaling, or meditation, trust yourself to release your raw emotions. On the other side of working through them, there is newfound peace.
Trust yourself to pursue what scares you.
Too often, we dream with no expectations of it becoming a reality. We encourage you to believe it for yourself, and to bet on yourself to make it happen. Have the courage to put yourself in the circles that can attract your desires, ask for what you want, and don’t settle for less. It’s not crazy to want the best— and we believe you can get and maintain it. Why don’t you?
Trust yourself to change your mind or start over.
Who said you had to follow a straight path? Changing courses to find your joy isn’t inconvenient or selfish. It’s the beauty of life! So try again, Rooted Woman, or try something completely new. Release the people who doubt you, the negative thoughts that downplay your abilities, and your past failures. None of that defines you. You are not the same person you once were, and with what you know now, you can create a more blessed, fulfilling life.
Incorporate these intentions into your self-care routine and watch your confidence blossom.
Tell us in the comments, which one of these areas of self-trust will you pursue next?

]]>New beginnings offer the opportunity to make life more desirable. As life demands more adjustments to your environment, schedule, self-care routine, identity, or even your desires, stay true to your boundaries and stay in touch with your higher self. Move with confidence, knowing that every adjustment makes your lifestyle more true to who you are. Take pride in taking charge of the variables in your life and continuously tailoring your lifestyle to represent your best life!
]]>We hope these self-care hacks can help you steward your new beginnings.
Understand that new is natural.
Although nothing about what we've experienced lately is normal, the evolution of life is very natural. Everything on earth changes; the weather changes from day to day, seasons change from month to month, babies and children change as they grow, family dynamics change, and even the menu at your favorite restaurant! In the moments where the newness of your life starts to feel overwhelming, ground yourself. Remember that what you're experiencing is healthy and life-enriching.
Be patient with your process.
It is normal to have mixed feelings about entering into new beginnings. No matter how much time has passed, give yourself the grace to fluctuate between grieving what was and exploring and celebrating what's new. With patience, gentleness, and kindness with yourself, you can successfully process through your feelings and relax into what's next for you.
Stay true to you in the new.
New beginnings offer the opportunity to make life more desirable.
Journal the process.
Keep track of your mental space on paper to stay in the present as you navigate through the new. Here are some questions to consider:
We Have Versatility in Our Feminine Energy
We define beauty on our terms. We can wear pants or a dress, long hair or a fade, glamorized makeup — or no makeup at all, and make it look divine. We believe sensuality isn’t based on what we wear, but how we show up in confidence and wholeness.
We Have a Heightened Sense of Emotional Awareness and Empathy
We excel in the business and corporate sectors, despite opposition. Studies cited by workplace.com show women are stronger at reading non-verbal cues, facilitating conversation, and encouraging collaboration. In short, we are jewels to the workforce. We encourage you to own your worth!
We Are Life-Giving
Women have an innate gift of getting it (whatever it may be) done. Whether it’s business-related, a financial goal, event, or a personal goal — we are masters of detail, vision, and development. We pour our hearts into making things grow and flourish. We wholeheartedly believe we make the world go-'round!
We Love Hard
A woman’s love comes from a deeper place, and while we’re often praised for our ability to uphold and uplift others, we believe we are most powerful when we turn that love inward. Through self-love, we empower ourselves to recognize our broken places, be tender with our healing, and practice self-accountability all at the same time.
To say the least, womanhood is extraordinary! We’d love to know how womanhood moves you! Tell us your favorite thing about being a woman in the comments.
]]>Have you ever found yourself comparing how you look to beauty gurus and influencers? Unfortunately, the beauty industry has a reputation for making women feel like they need to lighten or darken their skin, fit into a specific pant size, or wear a particular brand to be beautiful.
]]>We want to encourage our Rooted Woman community to dedicate the month of love to pioneering their own beauty standards through self-love. We hope you can learn to love the skin you’re in by getting more familiar with the true essence of you beneath it.
We hope that February brings you:
Unconditional Love
We encourage you to practice self-discovery instead of self-judgment. We believe It will radically change your perspective of yourself. We hope you fully acknowledge and accept your imperfections, while renouncing negative labels. Experience Unconditionally Loved.
Peace
We hope you release the anxiety and pressures to be perfect and settle into a joyful heart. Whether it’s your friendships or your home, we hope you find the serenity that comes with knowing who you are and what you’re made of. Experience Cloaked In Peace.
Freedom
We wish you the freedom to express yourself, explore your dreams, and create a life that makes you excited to wake up in the morning. We hope you will protect what makes you feel alive at all costs. Experience Freedom.
Gentleness
Instead of comparing and downplaying your uniqueness, we hope you’ll gift yourself with grace and compassion by speaking words of love, kindness, and inspiration to yourself. Experience Gentle.
This is your time, Rooted Woman, to love yourself to life — comment below which one of these words you want to manifest for yourself this year.

Discover the Roots of Your Self-Care Legacy
Establishing your self-care legacy starts with understanding the legacy you inherited. Whether intentional or not, you learned your view of yourself and the world from the people that raised and influenced you. And like you, their perspectives were defined by the obstacles they had to overcome. We encourage you to trace your family lineage to find incidents that have impeded the matriarchs of your family from prioritizing self-care. This could include:
This is not an all-inclusive list, but these barriers may give you an idea of what to look for. Of course, every family is different, and what your family has survived is no less impactful, so try not to compare or downplay anything.
As you search internally, you may be able to tie them to generational patterns of behaviors. Here are some examples:
Discovering these tendencies takes deep reflective work, so take as long as you need to process your family’s story. Once you understand, you can decide how (and if) you want to change your self-care philosophy.
Set Your Self-Care Intentions
When you are ready, make the deeply rooted, multi-faceted choice to take everything you’ve learned and measure it against wholeness. Then, decide the best practices you can use to close the gap. Empower yourself to go beyond what you’ve learned to honor what your soul needs, and align yourself to receive it.
Examples of new patterns to put into practice could include:
Please note that creating these healthier patterns and perceptions will be a journey with no set arrival point. However, as you see yourself evolve, feel empowered to discover new ways to grow and expand your self-care legacy. Be patient with yourself as you incorporate these healthier replacement patterns into your life – and ultimately, your legacy. Remember, these patterns are things you want to pass down to the next generation.
Also, remember this process is a beautifully unfolding journey. We encourage you to celebrate every discovery, milestone, and new beginning. Do this soul work, knowing that generational unhealthy patterns can stop with you! The pursuit of wholeness can live on after you, and the legacy of self-care you set moving forward will be the starting point for more wholeness and happiness for anyone after you can continue to build on.
Happy legacy building! Join us on social media to talk more about your self-care legacy!
]]>We believe you're still growing, and the best parts of your womanhood you have yet to see. We are excited about the new levels of queendom you'll discover in the new year - but before the ball drops, we want to make sure you're mentally ready to embrace the change.
Here are some steps on how to process your own evolution.
Step 1 Let Go of the Old You
For many, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed us forever. You may not look the same, think the same way, enjoy the same things, or have the same goals in life. It's okay to grieve who you were, but we encourage you to embrace the beauty of life now, without comparing your life to what it should, could, or would have been. No matter how put-together life may have seemed before the pandemic, we want to encourage you that who you are - today - is the best version of you. Love on you from the present.
Step 2: Get To Know The New You
If you've noticed different likes, preferences, and dreams surfacing - don't shy away from them! Whether it's your personal style or a new hobby, lean in and explore the new things that delight you. Liberate yourself from your routine to incorporate fresh, healthier habits. Relaxing into change can be difficult, but be confident, knowing it's making a better you.
Step 3: Introduce The New You
Steps one and two are so necessary; they set the stage for step three. As you become more confident in who you're evolving to be, you'll also develop new boundaries and expectations of the people around you that need to be communicated. Therefore, it's important to share how you're evolving with loved ones and ask for the grace to continue to explore you. Don't apologize for taking your time to understand your growth. The people who love you will accept you and adapt to precisely who you want to be.
We know the past year hasn’t been easy for you, but we want you to know that we're proud of you! We hope these steps will help guide you as you find new ways to prioritize and listen to yourself in 2022. See you in the new year!
]]>Imagine how different your quality of life would be if you couldn’t read, understand, or communicate your thoughts and ideas? It’s why we’ve taken this month of gratitude to acknowledge reading as one self-care practice we’re extremely fortunate to have. As a Rooted Woman, we want you to feel empowered to make full use of this liberty in your own life, too. Reading is power. Reading is dignity. Reading is a profound form of self-care!
We understand that it can be hard to make time for reading, so here are some tips that could help you.
Find Books That Excite You
You’re more likely to invest your time into things that excite you. So, find a genre or author that makes you thirsty for literature. This will help you anticipate quiet time with a good book and prioritize it.
Know That Less Can Be More
If you can’t afford to spend hours a day reading - that’s okay. Do you have 15 minutes on your lunch break? What about 30 minutes before bedtime? Think about where quick moments for reading can fit into your current schedule, so it’s less overwhelming.
Listen To Audiobooks
It can be extremely relaxing to listen to someone read to you - plus, it’s super convenient if you’re always on the go. You can play an audiobook during your commute, while you’re at the gym, or while cooking dinner or cleaning your room!
Use Reading For Grounding
Reading helps increase brain stimulation and fight depression. It’s a great way to spark your creativity and bring you back to center. Every now and then, it could feel good to switch up your normal go-to grounding techniques, like yoga or mindfulness meditation, with a book.
Ready to Read More?
We hope this blog empowers you to think about reading in a more liberating way. Let us know in the comments!
]]>The Common Roots of Fear
According to an article on Psychology Today, there are five universal types of fear:
These fears form due to things we’ve seen and experienced, and are stored away in our brain as trauma. They yield a physical and emotional reaction when triggered.
What does fear look like physically for you?
Fear can show up physically in the form of panic attacks and anxiety disorders. But more often, it’s as subtle as indigestion, pain and stiffness in the body, or even restlessness. For example, do you ever notice differences in your body functions when you’re stressed? Or, have you ever felt extra tired when you’re dealing with a difficult situation? You may not even realize there’s a correlation, but your body could be warning you about a fear trigger. So instead of ignoring it, we encourage you to take a deeper look inward.
What does fear feel like for you?
Sometimes, fear exposes itself through different feelings and emotions, including anger, frustration or feeling overwhelmed, or even numbness. Through careful self-assessment, you may learn that some of the things you do and say subconsciously are rooted in self-protection, as a natural response to one of the fears we discussed earlier. One example would be a person referring to themselves as “introverted” when they love people; they fear being accepted. Another person may call themselves a “perfectionist” when they are afraid of making a mistake and being humiliated.
Take time to write down some of the emotions you experience often, as well as the conclusions you’ve drawn about yourself lately. Then, ask yourself why. Of course, not all actions are rooted in fear, but if you’re honest, you may be able to pinpoint trauma roots in some of them. From there, you can start a healing journey towards freedom.
Ask for help.
You may need someone else’s perspective to understand how fear shows up in you. Asking for help may be scary in itself, but we don’t believe such delicate introspection has to happen alone. Getting to the root of your fears is a deep journey. Talk to someone who can guide you through the process and give you resources to handle anything revealed to you. If you need help finding a good therapist, check out this blog post. ]]>Don’t wait ‘til you’ve crossed the finish line to celebrate yourself!
Right here (and in every moment moving forward), you deserve self-praise. The obstacles you faced to become the you you are today weren’t easy. So take every moment you can to offer yourself soul-rejuvenating applause for how much you’ve learned and persevered. Reflect on every achievement and remind yourself that the woman you see in the mirror is self-made, and she deserves the best that life has to offer.
Here are three benefits to celebrating yourself more.
Reason #1: It Helps You Embrace Every Minute Of Your Journey
Remember how you made it through that one tough day or how you handled a difficult situation with grace? Or, what about the moments you didn’t want to show up, but you did anyway? Those are small victories, Rooted Woman, but they each play a significant role in your big wins. Those moments deserve as much recognition as all the others.
Reason #2: It Shifts Your Focus Toward Peace & Gratitude
Too much of “the hustle life” can cause a woman to feel overwhelmed and discontent in her current space. But if you pause to look around, it puts everything back into perspective. You’ll notice the details of the beautiful life you’ve created (yes, beautiful – flaws and all!). You’ll see just how much you’ve manifested already. And after gratitude sets in, you’ll be willing to release whatever uncomfortableness you may feel in the wait for what’s yet to come.
Reason #3: Your Growth Will Motivate You
Celebrating yourself along any journey is an act of self-love that can boost self-esteem, give you a sense of purpose, and get you excited for the future. Acknowledging your greatness and sitting within that positive energy is empowering. When you applaud yourself, you remind yourself that you have something great to offer the world, no matter what anyone else believes about you. That, then, becomes the unshakeable foundation for your next big move.
You’re always becoming, so there will always be something new to celebrate. That’s why we encourage you to make applauding yourself a lifelong habit.
Why not start here? In the comments, tell us what you’re most proud of this year.
]]>Your life is a direct reflection of the you that you bring to the table. Being anything other than yourself can leave you feeling like you’re chasing a life that continues to evade you. In this place, stress, loss of identity, depression, and emotional walls start to form. But imagine if you set aside everything you thought you were “supposed” to do to be a good human being, and started showing up exactly how you wanted to, regardless of who approved of it? That could sound scary — but also undeniably liberating.
]]>There’s a whole new level of life waiting for the Rooted Woman who is courageous enough to be herself without apologizing for it. Life tends to align more naturally and vibrantly with the people and opportunities that feel genuine when you actively embrace your uniqueness out loud.
There are two rites of passage to wholeheartedly living unapologetically: 1) self-acceptance, and 2) self-stewardship.
Self-Acceptance
We often picture ourselves differently than we are, leaning into an idealized version of who we want to be in the future. While it’s okay to have goals for self-improvement, it’s not okay to discount who you are today because you haven’t become that person yet. Besides, what if you never become that person?
Self-acceptance is the conscious act of surrendering to who you are right now. It’s about realizing that you are amazing and valuable, as is — nothing taken away or added. We encourage you to look at, talk to, and think about yourself more lovingly and inclusively.
Repeat this to yourself often: “I am unique, and that is enough.”
Self-Stewardship
It’s your responsibility to create a healthy relationship with your past and decide how it can affect you today. Living in your truth is owning all of the parts of your story — success, failure, hurt, and joy — with gentleness and kindness. It’s about developing a healthy sense of pride for how your truth has shaped you, while creating a narrative that makes it inspirational. It is your truth that can empower you to keep going. It is your truth that can motivate another sister. It is your truth that can invite a change at your job or in your community — but only when appropriately stewarded. Decide how you want to wear your truth, share your truth, and protect your truth (even from your own negativity), and stick to that in every scenario.
Repeat this to yourself often: “There’s strength in my story.”
The Power of The Unapologetic You
We get to close out this month celebrating Women’s Equality Day on the 26th. This national holiday honors the fight and perseverance of being a woman. It marks the consistent presence of powerful, unapologetic, feminine voices that have risen to do the hard work of advocating for change. We’ve seen much progress in the last century, but we believe the best is yet to come — or should we say, the most unapologetic version of the woman is yet to emerge. (That’s you, Rooted Woman!)
Let’s talk it out:
Drive With The Windows Down
Take in the fresh air and let the breeze hit your skin on your grocery store runs or road trips.
Lounge Outdoors
The couch is our best friend, too — but the back patio misses you! Grab a cozy lounger or yoga mat and get in some mindful meditation as birds chirp and the sun kisses your skin.
Pick Seasonal Produce
Whether you prefer reviving your backyard garden or visiting a local farm, picking home-grown produce is a fun — and delicious — pastime. Plus, picking fresh, sustainable fruits and vegetables can make you feel better about what you eat.
Conquer A Fitness Goal
Warm weather offers the perfect scene for you to challenge yourself to hike the mountain, create your next big idea on that long nature trail, or finally train for and run your first marathon. Pushing your body to new levels can boost your overall courage and confidence.
Take A Summer Break
Even if you’re not in school — you deserve extended time off to rest and recharge — vacation or staycation with loved ones or alone. Explore somewhere near or revisit a place that brings back happy memories.

]]>It’s your authentic voice that makes you feel free.
It’s your authentic voice that resonates with others like you.
It’s your authentic voice that we encourage you to nurture and practice daily.
Your Authentic Voice Is Your Center
Authentic self-expression requires you to stay in touch with yourself enough to express your true feelings and beliefs. Take reflective moments to consult with yourself about your core values, your reoccurring emotions, and your dreams. From that centered place, self-expression flows more freely.
“I allow my experiences to carry me to the destinations of my heart’s desire. I am always in flow with my highest good.”
Your Authentic Voice Is Your Change Agent
Don’t be afraid to express yourself from fear of how people will perceive you. The most influential people speak their minds unapologetically to incite change, to right wrongs, and to save lives. You can do that too, Rooted Woman. You never know what monumental things will shift in your family, community, workplace, or even within you when you stop hiding and start voicing what’s really on your mind.
“I choose to stand boldly in the face of adversity, knowing I will overcome whatever lies ahead.”
Your Authentic Voice Is A Classroom
There’s always more to learn about authentic self-expression. Our sister platform, Rooted Woman University, offers courses and resources to help love you and learn you so that you can master your voice. Register for self-discovery courses on topics like nutrition, professional development, relationships, finances, and so much more. And if you’re a “Staying Rooted” newsletter subscriber, you can get up to 50% off Rooted Woman products when you take one of the available courses.
We’ll be sharing more tips for how to find your authentic voice via our IG posts this week. Join the conversation @RootedWoman.
]]>#1: Electronic Detox
You do all you can during the week. Take the weekends to step away from all things work-related and indulge in everything that makes you feel replenished and grounded. Setting aside time for yourself is responsible, empowering, and important — plus, it invariably results in time well spent. Take it a step further and consider stepping away from social media and constant news updates. You never know how much time you’ll save when you’re not scrolling on your phone. And in this climate, a social media break can also help your mental state and bring you back to your center.
#2: Soak Up The Sun
Use the weekends to stock up on vitamin D and serotonin! The warm weather and sunlight can make you feel good from the inside and out. This time of year, the sun is shining longer and evenings are nice and breezy. You have ample time to go outside to dance in the wind and allow the rays to hug your soul. Remember to wear some SPF, though!
#3: Check Out Local Events
Fly solo or grab a group of friends to explore local events happening near you. Although social distancing may prevent some of your usual summer plans, spring and summer weather are perfect for outdoor fitness events, food truck festivals, beer + wine festivities, restaurant patio dates, and more! There is always something new to try or a new place to go. Whether you’re into spontaneous or thoroughly planned outings, either one will allow you to change up your routine by adding in a different destination.
#4: Indulge Yourself
Take yourself out on a date, treat yourself to things that you usually don’t get the chance to, and be nice to yourself. Spoiling yourself can look different depending on your personality, but don’t be afraid to do whatever your soul needs at the moment. Make memories that will last, do what makes you feel whole and relaxed, and know that putting time into yourself is better for you in the long run.
How do you spend your off days? What makes you feel replenished after a long week? Share your thoughts with the community below!
]]>Cultivating Creativity
Giving your plans the time to grow and develop under your intentional hand will fuel your creativity and independence, and solidify the belief in your work. This will also add to the ownership and autonomy you will feel once you’ve accomplished your goal.
Boundaries
In honor of upholding your boundaries and keeping your peace, know that not everyone is for you. In addition to that, not everyone will have the best intentions with your dreams and goals. Upholding your boundaries promotes bliss and happiness within yourself and your surroundings. It creates an environment that caters to your needs while you maneuver your way forward on your path.
Mental Clarity
Actively moving in silence allows you to cut out all negative thoughts, energies, and distractions. When working towards your goals, all naysayers will have to take a back seat. This Rooted Woman is only interested in support and a round of applause.
Connection to Self
When working towards big dreams, one of the main goals is to feel yourself moving forward and improving before others can. Taking the time to reflect and reminisce about how far you’ve come can make all the difference once you’ve crossed the finish line. Accomplishing a goal is a personal journey, so learning when to use discretion is imperative because it also protects your peace in addition to your dreams.
In a perfect world, the support would be greater than the congratulations, the encouragement would be second nature, and the negativity would be an afterthought. Fortunately, our community of love, evolution, and growth is here to provide nourishment to you on your journey, and to keep you energized as you continue to put your best foot forward. Know that you are destined for a future of abundance if you continue to believe in yourself and your dreams. You are your biggest cheerleader and supporter, and as such, you owe it to yourself to move in silence.

]]>We love the idea of working from home in our jammies, but what does this mean for self-care? What is the work-life balance you currently have at home? Is it sustainable? Where do you make time to unplug and unwind when your office is your living room?
Below are some tips you can use to start planning how you can thrive in a long-term work-from-home environment.
Manage Your Expectations
Start with acknowledging where you are. Do you work more often now that you’re home? Do you work less often due to distractions? Are you struggling to find a place in your home to unplug, or are you finding it hard to create a productive workspace? Once you’ve identified your pain points, you can set new expectations with grace.
Create a Dedicated Workspace
When you used to sit in a cubicle, that was your space. Have you made a space in your home where you work? Boundaries are pivotal for your mental and physical well-being, so do your best to separate work, relaxation, community, and play.
Take Regular Breaks
Embrace your need for breaks whenever you need to. Just because you’re working in the comfort of your home doesn’t mean you don’t need mental breaks in your workday. Breaks can be a walk around your neighborhood, watching a show, doing a hobby, meditating, or anything that brings you joy. And, if small breaks aren’t enough — don’t feel bad for using your vacation days from home. The purpose is to take care of yourself and your mental health.
Establish A Routine
This pandemic has shaken up routines, leaving us all scrambling to establish a new normal. First, understand that things may never go back to how they used to be. You have the power to create a new one with fresh, new ways to prioritize yourself. Plan a daily routine that adequately fits in sleeping, eating, productivity, relaxing, and family time. It will help you sustain your mental well-being.
Communicate Your Needs
If you are experiencing an imbalance that’s leaving you drained, stressed, or overwhelmed, communicate to yourself first. Allow yourself to feel and acknowledge what your heart needs. Then, make sure you are expressing those needs to your family, friends, and colleagues. No one can read your mind, so don’t be afraid to speak up.
Let Us Hear From You
Do you want to continue working from home, or are you ready to get back in the office? What are you doing to re-establish a healthy work-life balance post-pandemic?
]]>As you know, so much has changed over the last 13 months with COVID-19 cases increasing, social distancing restrictions still in place, mass shootings on the rise and racial injustice ever present in the media. All of these things are competing for our attention, peace, and energy. To be frank, it’s exhausting and nowhere near fair. These things have caused our team to sit back and reflect upon how we have shown up for you and ourselves in the past, and how we can best show up for you and ourselves in the future. The demands of life have not slowed down, even though the trauma that we are all facing continues to rage on. People need us. People need you. And, while the tasks on our to-do lists continue to grow, and the various social issues amass, we know it is abundantly important to protect our energy.
The Rooted Woman team has decided to take a different, more purposeful approach with our focus on self-care. We are putting more emphasis on self. As we do this, we invite you to take this journey with us.
For the past six years, we’ve sought to revolutionize the narrative of self-care, moving away from the belief that self-care is a selfish reward towards an understanding that self-care is a necessary practice that should be supported and accessible within the lives of women. Bottled with intention, we’ve aimed to support your self-care with ethically sourced, vegan, non-toxic polishes and high-quality nail care products. We have served you with pride, love and purpose. Yet, we’d do you a disservice if we didn’t prioritize our healing and re-centering too, in light of these past 13 months. So, my team and I have made adjustments to adopt a slower pace of life this year to honor our bodies, minds, and commitments with more grace and care than ever before. We believe now is the time to give ourselves ample grace, be present for the people that matter, and be available for ourselves. We realize this will make our presence online less interactive, but we’re giving ourselves grace even in that. To be clear, we’re not leaving our space or our community. We are just slowing down and moving with more ease. If you notice us responding slower, know it’s because we’re acting with more intention and care.
We will continue to get your orders out promptly, deliver quality products, offer self-care resources, and provide support for you! Let’s continue to prioritize self-care together, own our womanhood journey, and flourish in our personal spaces. We will do whatever it takes to get back to us, and we hope you do the same.
Thank you for growing with us, all while keeping us Rooted.
Be well,
CEO and Founder of Rooted Woman

Arts and Crafts Kit
Whether it’s canvas painting, scrapbooking, or even candling making, the ability to express creativity liberates the mind, body, and soul. You can purchase a crafting kit online or create a more personalized approach by shopping for the supplies yourself. For even more fun, make it a group event with your favorite wine (because who doesn’t love a good craft and paint session?!).
Live Plants
Make your favorite mom a plant mom, too! Live plants are something any woman can care for, with a lot less maintenance than a human life. Yet, plants add so much to an environment, including positive energy, cleaner air — and even fresh herbs and spices.
Self-Help Products
Allow the mothers in your life to get in touch with themselves on a deeper level with self-improvement resources they can enjoy in their downtime. It could be a self-help book, a nourishing product box, or a self-love course like those available on Rooted Woman University; either way, self-improvement is a very thoughtful self-care gift!
Express Your Gratitude
Our last self-care gift idea doesn’t cost a thing. Sometimes, the best gift is your words of affirmation. We encourage you to tell a mother how much you appreciate her. Write a detailed letter or make a sentimental toast at dinner — no matter what, make sure that the mothers in your life know how much they mean to you!
Let’s Hear From You!
What are your plans for Mother’s Day?
]]>Boundaries you set for yourself could be financial, emotional, social, or situational. Your budget is a boundary, for instance, because it establishes the money lines you are not willing to cross to improve your quality of life. Cleaning your home before you start your day is a boundary you can set, to maintain your peace and focus throughout the day. Or, refusing to take work calls after hours is a boundary you set to give yourself space to wind down and recharge. Personal boundaries serve as self-preservation. Violating them dismisses the value of your well-being and your future goals.
So, how can you create and stick to your personal boundaries?
Step 1: Identify habits and thought patterns that don’t serve how you desire to show up in the world.
Step 2: Create parameters around those patterns, to keep you from falling into them.
Step 3: Write down these parameters and what happens when you violate them.
Step 4: Practice your boundaries and re-adjust them as needed.
Step 5: Give yourself grace! Remember that your boundaries serve YOUR well-being. If you find yourself putting too many restrictions on yourself, you may be doing more harm than good.
Step 6: Stick to these boundaries! Don’t let you talk yourself out of them, and don’t compromise them for anything or anybody!
Value You More
If you’re a person whose instinct is to exhaust every resource to make others feel comfortable, boundary guilt may be a scary thing to face. Whether it’s fear of missing out, fear that someone will not like you, fear of confrontation, or just worry that you’re letting someone you love down — it’s all bound to happen when you start asserting your boundaries. We encourage you to remember that setting personal boundaries isn’t personal — it’s protective. Trust that the people around you — and you — will understand and get with the program!

]]>When is the last time you felt seen or appreciated?
When is the last time you let yourself have something you truly wanted? When is the next time you’d like to do that?
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
What positive character traits do you have?
What will you accomplish internally in the next five years?
What could you do to boost your self-esteem further? When can you start?
What are things you’d like to say “No,” to, and how can you say it in a way that’s comfortable for you?
Who appreciates you, and how have they shown it?
What does true freedom look like to you? When can you schedule a day to experience it?
How do you indulge yourself, and how can you do it more often?
Who are your role models/idols? How are you already like them?
What is ‘enough’ for you?
What makes you feel strong?
When do you feel the most like yourself?
What about your body is already a masterpiece?
What do you love about your life?
When does your physical body feel joy?
When do you feel the most confident, and why?

]]>Avoiding People Who Undermine Your Self-Worth
Sis, you know the people. The ones who always share their opinion and leave you questioning attributes about yourself. Some people bring others down to feel better about themselves. The one thing you must remind yourself is that you can’t change them or their outlook. Moreover, the person probably doesn’t mean any harm. But, you know yourself better than anyone — and that includes your sensitivities. Protect your mental space from negative energy that will taint the positivity and optimism you’re cultivating.
Keeping Promises To Yourself
Why is it so easy to hold integrity for our commitments to others, but so easy to neglect what we’ve vowed to ourselves? We encourage you to practice making your personal commitments a non-negotiable. Value your time, presence, body, mind, and spirit, without taking any of what you are for granted. It will build not only your self-trust but also your self-worth. Promise to take care of yourself, especially during this time of uncertainty. It will be the only thing you have to lean on for any rocky roads you hit in the future.
Speaking Kindly To Yourself
Critiquing yourself is a habit. It is a bad habit but a habit, nevertheless. If you take the time to trust, you can grow into the person you want to be. Understand you are not perfect. Give yourself grace. Trusting yourself helps you in relationships as well. Trust is the guiding force in a relationship, so you have to believe in yourself before supporting another person. If you’re struggling with how you talk to you, we encourage you to revisit our positive self-talk tips from last week.
Remember that you deserve to be uniquely and authentically loved and accepted by you. Let us know how we can support you in evolving in your self-trust journey.
]]>Sometimes we talk to ourselves negatively, and it's subconscious. We don’t intentionally bash ourselves. We just don't realize the trauma caused by what someone else has said or done. So, we joke about it or push it to the side without acknowledging how negatively it affects your mind. Positive self-talk has everything to do with your thoughts. Change your thoughts, and you can change the world around you. It will help you change the way you speak to yourself, and the actions that follow. It is all about being kind to yourself and building a loving and caring relationship with yourself. Consider yourself your own best friend.
You may already practice gratitude journaling, which is writing down things you are grateful for to uplift your outlook on life. We encourage you to do the same with positive self-talk. Write down something you love about yourself, or something that you accomplished or are proud of. It can be as simple as telling yourself, “Good job,” for cooking and eating a home-cooked meal for the first time in a while. Did you wear a cute outfit today? Tell yourself how good you looked, sis! Do your nails look bomb after giving yourself a well-deserved manicure? Let yourself know you did that! Positive self-talk will elevate your energy and your surrounding energies as well. It will change your mood and lead to an overall more positive life. Who doesn’t want that?

]]>Often, we get overly restless and frustrated with our plate. Without putting things into perspective, life can start to happen to us – and we begin to feel like we’re going nowhere. But, setting intentions breeds positivity. Moving with purpose helps you feel motivated instead of overwhelmed, empowered instead of defeated, and alert instead of exhausted. To move with purpose can be as simple as acknowledging your humanity. Throughout your daily tasks, try asking yourself, “Does this bring me closer to my desired goal?” and “Does this bring me joy?” Aligning ourselves with our purpose can better help us align with where we want to exert our energy. It is a powerful way to strategize for rest.
Are you struggling to navigate your intentions this year? We encourage you first to evaluate your relationship with the biggest factors in intention setting: your tolerance for toxic energy, your prioritization of self-care, and your ability to focus:
We encourage you to take on the intention of moving with purpose, and from it you will elevate your rest. Always remember that rest is a necessity. It is your birthright, and anything you do to promote it in your life will be beneficial to you. By prioritizing your intentions, you open your world up to mental, physical, and emotional rest that can reset, recharge, and revitalize your life.
]]>Sisterhood is an association, society, or community of women linked by a common interest. For us, this bond goes beyond being a family. In a sisterhood, you become a collective. You want your sisters to succeed, and you support the ups and downs of that process. You do this because you care for them, and they care for you. The validation that comes from being seen by other people with similar interests is powerful.
If you are looking for sisterhood, you can embrace being part of ours. Via our social media, our email community, and our new sister platform, Rooted Woman University, we’ve created a network of more than 12K women linked by radical self-care and profound self-discovery. In 2020, we leaned into the Rooted Woman sisterhood more than ever to make it through a rough year, and we want to continue cultivating space for you to do the same this year.
We know the Rooted Woman sisterhood wouldn’t be possible without you. Because of that, we encourage you to sit with how you can make sisterhood stronger in your life this year.
Here are four questions to ask yourself:
We want to hear from you. Share some of your reflections in the comments below!
]]>February is a month focused on valuing love, and we believe you can use the momentum to set up a satisfying self-love journey throughout the rest of this year. Besides, what better time to shower yourself with affection and self-prioritization than the Month of Love? Get started with these power self-love demonstrations below.
Break Off Hurtful Relationships
Self-love means choosing yourself above the people in your life who can’t honor your boundaries and expectations. Sometimes, you have to love yourself enough to be single. Sometimes, you have to love yourself enough to let go of that lifelong friendship. It may hurt temporarily, but you’ll find that peace and happiness are abundant on the other side of the letting go process.
Spend Time In The Mirror
Take a few moments each day to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are. Remind yourself of how much you love yourself, and how grateful you are for your body and skin. Hearing others tell you these things is one thing, but hearing you tell yourself is another level of freedom and adoration for yourself.
Write A List Of Things You Love About Yourself
Journal out your positive attributes! List the things that make you feel unique, funny, smart, and alluring. Refer to this list any time you’re feeling down on yourself.
Treat Yourself To An In-Home Spa Day
Of course, you can’t let February pass by without a little pampering. Run a hot bubble bath, put on the clay mask, and grab a Rooted Woman polish with your favorite affirmation for a quiet evening in. We promise you’ll find that you’re great company.
Valentine's Day is a week away, and whether you're looking forward to a romantic date or a Galentine's celebration full of laughs, we believe the right manicure could help you feel even more confident to showcase the inner beauty you have inside.

Start With Mindfulness
The best intentions are holistic in that they satisfy the needs of your mind, body, and spirit. Start each day by getting still enough to become aware of what your soul needs, then make it a top priority to fulfill those needs before the end of your day.
Create A One-Word Theme For Your Day
Each morning, search your heart for one word that describes what you need to focus on for that day. Choosing one word will serve as an easy reminder to keep you focused on what’s important. For instance, if your theme for the daily is “family,” you are less likely to give space to anything that could distract you from spending quality time with those you love.
Shorten Your Daily To-Do List
It can be easy to rattle off every undone task in your mind, but this can create undue pressure on you to perform. Instead, make a list of non-negotiable tasks for the day. Then, create broader timelines for other to-do list items. This will help tasks feel more manageable and reduce stress.
The daily act of setting intentions is a practical, powerful self-care tool that allows you to take back ownership of your life, day by day. The more intentional you are about each day, the better your attitude and thoughts about it, and the more fulfilling and productive you will feel at the end of it.
Happy intention-setting, Rooted Woman!
